Have you ever come across the term ‘Power Hour’?

Often, even with the clearest of goals and the very best intentions, time can be the biggest barrier to success. We use it as an excuse. The reason not to do something. The reason something failed.

Well, my friends, Power Hour might be the solution you’re looking for!

In her book of the same name, Adrienne Herbert talks about the importance of your Power Hour being the first hour of the day, but on this, we are going to disagree because not everyone is a lark or has capacity at that time of day.

However…

I do believe we can all create an hour for something we want to achieve and the incremental gains speak for themselves. Just one hour a day on a treadmill/learning a language/working on a career-defining project will only get you so far but if you keep showing up and taking regular action, before you know it you’ve done five, ten, 30 hours and you will have made significant progress.

  • A Power Hour can be defined as a regular, uninterrupted and highly intentional 60 minutes.
  • This could be at 6 am when the house is still quiet.
  • Or the hour before you turn email and Slack channels on.
  • Or the quiet hour at the end of the day as you wind down.
  • Remember, it only works if it works for you.

What will you do with your Power Hour? And when will it be? It doesn’t matter when it happens. That you make it happen is the most important thing.
