Acclaimed marketing expert, Ade Onilude, is appointed to Careering into Motherhood’s Advisory Board

Acclaimed marketing industry expert, Ade Onilude, is the first appointment to the Careering into Motherhood Advisory Board. She will be instrumental in rapidly scaling Careering into Motherhood and its purpose of making career coaching more accessible to more women and helping women to have successful careers beyond maternity leave, on their terms.

Ade brings her experience as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the social enterprise, Women in Marketing (WIM), a community interest company which she established to educate, inspire, connect, recognise, and empower female marketers. Ade has received multiple international awards and been recognised for her contribution to the global economic empowerment of women.

“Ade is passionate about challenging gender norms, and with her experience of launching and growing her hugely successful community interest company, she will bring all of that to support our growth,” said Jane Johnson, founder of Careering into Motherhood. “It is a real honour to have Ade join our Advisory Board. Her experience will be invaluable as we launch our corporate partnerships to help companies retain and attract female talent by offering bespoke coaching and professional development programmes for women.”

Careering into Motherhood began as a Facebook group where mums could ask for help and advice. As the same challenges came up time and again, Jane built a partnership of career coaches. The online platform launched at the start of the year and is already the largest curated library of professional career advice for women with children.

Ade said, “Jane and I share the belief that gender stereotypes in the workplace need challenging. We are both driven by a passion to help women reach their full potential, and I have spent many years championing a woman’s right to the career they want. I was delighted to accept when Jane invited me to join the board. I know I can add a lot of value to help Careering into Motherhood scale and grow sustainably.”

Ade Onilude, founder and CEO Women in Marketing CIC

Ade is the founder and chief executive officer of the social enterprise, Women in Marketing Community Interest Company (WIM CiC), established to educate, inspire, connect, recognise, and empower female marketers, through the cycle of their lives. In 2004, she launched WIM’s first forum on International Women’s Day, and in 2010, she created the first WIM Awards with a mission to promote, recognise and celebrate women’s achievements in making a difference in a profession that touches the public in millions of ways every day; this has evolved to recognise male advocates. During her membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and prior to founding WIM CiC, she joined the London board. In 2020 Ade’s contribution to the industry was recognised in the esteemed global Provoke Media # Innovator25 EMEA list.

Ade is passionate about challenging gender norms and is an advocate of the global economic empowerment of women.

Jane Johnson, founder of Careering into Motherhood

In 2015, Jane returned from maternity leave to the role of Global Director at HSBC which she negotiated as a job-share. It was the bank’s first job-share at that level.

Jane wanted to help more women have access to similar opportunities, so in 2016 she launched a successful recruitment business, helping women to find senior roles that offered flexible working. Inundated with candidates and unable to meet demand, in 2019 she set up the Careering into Motherhood Facebook group. Membership has grown to nearly 9K women today. They run mentoring programmes, online coaching, an award-winning podcast, a Masterclass series, even a female comedy night on Zoom!

Jane was invited by 10 Downing Street to advise the Department For Business (BEIS) on flexible working but grew tired of waiting for government policy and corporate attitudes to motherhood to change. The Careering into Motherhood platform connects women with coaches and coaching resources, directly helping them to access more opportunities and to have fulfilling careers.

Careering into Motherhood is the largest online library of curated career advice for women. Career coaches provide their expertise via blogs, podcasts and live sessions, and mums can use the free materials or browse coaches’ profiles where their qualifications, fees and testimonials are given, and engage a coach privately.
