Professional Background

I have over 21 years HR experience working at senior leadership level in a multi-national investment bank.

Throughout my corporate career, I have coached executives, managers and employees. My HR career started in London where I spent five years working in a variety of roles. In 2004, I came back to my home town of Dublin to head up the HR department during a period of significant expansion where headcount went from 350 to over 1,200 in 12 months. In 2011, I took on an expanded role, heading up HR for all of the bank’s country presence outside the UK (excluding the Americas and Asia Pacific). I remotely led a team of 15 HR professionals and was responsible for 18 different countries. I had the opportunity to work on a number of projects, including the divestiture of the private bank, opening and closure of country offices and major restructuring projects.

My personal journey has had a major influence on my coaching/ mentoring practice. Having suffered for years with chronic back pain, in 2018 I had to undergo spinal surgery. During the post-op recovery period, I realised my life was very one dimensional. Whilst my career had flourished, my health had suffered. Going at full speed all the time didn’t allow for me to slow down and eventually it took its toll. I realised I needed to make major changes to redress the balance and I sought the help of a coach.

His approach was science/ neuroscience-based which really resonated with me. Understanding how chemicals affect the body and nervous system, and my prolonged levels of unhealthy stress, I realised my back issues were highly likely to have been caused by stress. He supported me to forensically look at my life choices, explore my values and possibilities I had not been able to see on my own. Working with him, I realised the professional environment no longer served my values and I made the bravest (and best) decision to resign.

Inspired by the transformational change I experienced through coaching, coupled with my first hand experience of coaching and mentoring in my corporate role, I decided to formalise this and in 2019 undertook a Practitioner Diploma in Coaching with Neuroscience. I am accredited by two professional coaching bodies - the World Association of Coaching with Neuroscience (WACN) and am also an EMCC accredited coach/ mentor at Senior Practitioner Level.

I am passionate about emotional intelligence and its impact and have also qualified in Bar-on EQi and EQ360 tools which I leverage with clients.

What Drew You To Coaching?

Typically clients come to me saying they feel stuck, are unsure of what they want, feel they need a change but fear of the unknown seems to be holding them back. Using a blend of coaching and mentoring tools and techniques, I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for them to explore new perspectives and possibilities.

My approach is strengths based, whole system integrated with neuroscience. I see myself as a thinking partner and my purpose is to support my clients to gain clarity, certainty and confidence leading to positive, sustained and transformational change.

A favourite quote which I feel best sums up the work I do, is: "If you change the way you see things, the things you see change."
