Testimonials

"I am so pleased I participated in the SHINE [group] programme. Sarah is warm and intuitive and guides you through the course, taking you through thought-provoking and revealing exercises at each stage, coupled with weekly group video calls (which were so much more inspiring than I had anticipated). The other women in the group were so supportive and I felt that I learned something from all of them, despite us being in a variety of different situations. Sarah creates a friendly and open dialogue throughout and empowers each member to uncover their own insights which is truly valuable. I am so excited for my next step now after going on this hugely revealing journey. I can’t thank Sarah enough and would recommend her to anyone who feels they have lost their work mojo."

Steph - Marketing manager to female founder whilst on maternity leave

"The whole experience of working with Sarah and what I have learned about myself and my professional self has simply been transformational. I know that that’s quite a bold statement but it’s how I feel. If there were other women in our organisation struggling to believe in themselves, their own abilities and strengths then I could not recommend Sarah’s coaching enough. Working with Sarah has helped me accept that sometimes to be achieve our best, we need help and support. So thank you again – it has made such a positive impact on me on so many levels."

Alison - Senior Insurance Manager - 1:1 leadership/ exec confidence coaching

"I was facing the prospect of redundancy earlier this year – having worked at the same company for many years, the prospect of change was definitely daunting. However I knew this was an opportunity to take stock of things and really revisit what’s important to me and my career. I decided to work with Sarah 1:1 to help guide me through that process… and boy am I pleased I did! Sarah has helped me work through the fog to gain clarity and pick through what it is that makes me tick and ultimately happy at work. It’s been a great experience and a real investment in myself. I would highly recommend working with Sarah on any of her courses to help focus your career thoughts, gain clarity, be accountable and have a wing woman! Thank you again, Sarah."

    Professional Background

Prior to setting up my own business in 2016, I held several senior level people, talent and organisational development roles across various tech, start-up and digital businesses. My last permanent role was as Head of Talent & Engagement, when I devised the engagement strategy and led the people team that achieved the #1 ranking in The Sunday Times ‘Best Companies to Work For’ listings two years running – in 2015 and 2016.

Coaching has always been an integral part of my work life; and coaching fellow senior leaders and middle managers and high potential employees during my 15 year talent development corporate career was my favourite aspect of my role.

I strongly believe that our work lives should nourish our personal lives and vice versa. They shouldn’t jar awkwardly against each other! Finding work/ life ‘balance’ feels unnatural and unobtainable, which is why I prefer the term work/ life ‘blend’.

I also believe that when people align their work lives with their authentic personality and purpose, they work happier and shine brighter. That’s because, when individuals experience true psychological safety in the workplace, they’re able to bring their ‘whole selves’ to work. Only then can they achieve incredible outcomes and create amazing results for their organisation, shareholders, society – and themselves.

I adopt an intuitive but evidence-based approach, which means that positive psychology, neuroscience and personality profiling underpin everything I do. I have certifications in various psychometric tools including the Hogan Leadership Forecast Series, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Gallup’s CliftonStrengths. I also have a diploma in Performance Coaching, have completed various CPDs in Neuroscience for business, and am a certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA).

    What drew you to coaching?

After I returned from my first maternity leave, back to my senior HR role in the spring of 2015, I suffered horribly from imposter syndrome. Although I had successfully managed to negotiate a flexible, part-time role, my professional identity had changed since becoming a mother and my confidence was in tatters. I felt miserable and lost. What I now wanted from my career had changed but I really struggled to articulate how.

Deep down, I knew I had considerable value to offer my employer but I felt lost and unsupported. A few months later, the stars aligned and my role was made redundant. It transpired that I was also in the early stages of pregnancy with my second little girl!

It was a stressful time but I dug deep and worked out what would make me happy in my career. As a qualified coach (and personal development geek!) I had a lot of data on myself and promptly set about designing a new work life (and business) around my personality and purpose. The process I devised to get myself out of this sizable career rut is the very same framework –  called S.H.I.N.E. – that has now helped hundreds of other women get confident and clear on their best next steps professionally.

It’s now my mission to help talented women confidently re-design their careers or start up businesses that align with their authentic personality and purpose. I’ll help you design a purposeful ‘you-shaped’ career or business that works around your family life and makes the dent you want to leave in the world.
