Today, I feel very lucky that I love my work. My areas of interest and purpose are aligned as I work with clients to help them become the best version of themselves, in whatever way is important to them.
My professional background is within HR, based on a strong interest in people and believing that developing and supporting them is the route to organisational success.
My journey into formal coaching came through qualifying in NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming). Understanding the power of our unconscious mind and how we can learn to reframe some of our deeply held beliefs was life changing for me.
I subsequently qualified as a Personal and Performance Coach, and a Corporate and Executive Coach. My drive to learn more about how we can grow and develop and just feel happier with who we are, led me to a Masters in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology. Positive psychology is the science of making like better. My area of research was self-kindness – or rather the lack of it that many of us show towards ourselves.
My interest in wellbeing embraces all the elements that influence our psychological wellbeing, including what creates our beliefs and attitudes towards ourselves.
From personal experience in supporting others, I am passionate about increasing understanding about mental illness and reducing the stigma surrounding it. I’m an accredited trainer with MHFA England, delivering Mental Health First Aid and awareness training.
I set up my own business, Protea Solutions, in 2015. My mission and purpose is ‘Unleashing the Power of your People’ and includes my signature programme Unleashing You.
What drew you to coaching?
I brought up my three wonderful daughters on my own, whilst working. It is only now I recognise that achievement. At the time I was too busy feeling inadequate in both work and ‘life’. I want others to avoid this and realise all they are achieving.
I have a special interest in the power of self-kindness. Having conducted research, what became clear is whilst people understood self-kindness was good (although didn’t understand the full extent of the benefits), many lived with an inner critic and self-judgment. Barriers to self-kindness were needing to always put others first, low self-worth and always striving for better.
Working with a coach creates space to identify where you want to get to and how to get there, based on what is right for you and your world. Only you have the answers.
Maybe you don’t know what they are yet. Increasing self-awareness includes identifying what is important to you and recognising your strengths.
Sometimes we have unhelpful beliefs, low confidence and self-esteem, or imposter syndrome getting in the way. Through coaching, I help you understand these and develop new helpful strategies.
My personal journey, and as with everyone I am still a work in progress, is why I coach. Helping you to be the best version of yourself, in whatever way is meaningful for you – career, personal growth, wellbeing or simply enjoying life more.

1-2-1 coaching is offered with one off sessions or programmes tailored to what you are seeking to achieve. Depending on the topics I use additional tools including Motivational Maps and DISC profiles. Sessions from £125+VAT
