Testimonials

"I’ve recently completed a series of career coaching sessions with Denise. After a long break from work to raise children, I was considering a change of career but feeling a bit lost and didn’t know where to start. Denise guided me through a series of exercises to identify my skills, values and motivations. We then moved on to exploring a range of potentially suitable roles. I left the sessions feeling much clearer and with an action plan to work through to achieve my new goals. Denise is warm, informative and easy to talk to. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her services to anyone considering a career change."

Lisa, considering returning to work after a career break

"During our four weekly sessions, Denise was a brilliant sounding board. Through her thoughtful and insightful questions, and some creative exercises, she enabled me to identify my key skills, values and motivations in the workplace. With her extensive corporate experience, Denise has a very calm, empathetic and methodical way of delivering her sessions. She is also realistic and understands the challenges of juggling a career and family life in a post-lockdown world. Whereas I was considering retraining and embarking on a new career, Denise’s sessions have reminded me of the skills I already have. I would wholeheartedly recommend booking some sessions with Denise if you are seeking clarity about your next career move – she will empower you and definitely ensure that you are 'moving' in the best direction."

Sarah, trainer

"Having never gone through a process like this before, I entered with an open mind and a hopeful intent and you didn't let me down. Your calm, logical, empathetic approach allowed me the space and time to explore my values, choices and opportunities. With your helpful insight and expert guidance, I think we both felt the 'lightbulb' moment. You have boosted my confidence and given me the tools and belief to pursue my career goals. I now feel equipped and supported to take the next step in my work life journey."

    • University of Liverpool, MSc Organisational and Business Psychology

    Professional Background

I have over 15 years experience in recruitment, assessment and human resources. Prior to having children, I worked as a recruitment consultant before joining KPMG’s Graduate Recruitment Department. I worked in London and the United States before taking an HR managerial role in consulting.

After having children, I took a career break and then worked as a freelance associate in recruitment and assessment. I had the opportunity to work in various organisations including British Airways, Unilever, RBS, BT and KPMG.

I took a second career break so I could be around more for my children and during this time I volunteered as a reading assistant in the local primary school and became the chair of trustees for a local gymnastics club. I also qualified as a pilates instuctor and took an MSc in Organisational and Business Psychology.

    What drew you to coaching?

I had always enjoyed the people development aspects of my roles and I particularly enjoyed the Effective Coaching Skills module of my MSc. I researched different coaching specialisms and realised that career coaching would be an ideal area, drawing on my experiences and studies.

I completed a dissertation entitled, “How taking a career break impacts on professional and managerial mothers’ career choices” which has led me to focus on helping women regain their confidence and move on with their careers.

I understand that many women feel they are lacking in confidence and sense of direction after taking extended time away from the workplace. Using a variety of tools and techniques, I enable my clients to identify their key skills, interests, values and motivations so they can clarify what they are looking for in their careers.

It is really rewarding to see clients grow in confidence and formulate clear ideas about their next steps.
